LowerMainLAN

LowerMainLan is larger version of the popular and successful CapLAN. The idea came about when we realized that the venue for CapLAN was too small. Instead of moving CapLAN from Capilano College, where it got its name, we decided to make a new event. The new larger lan party will take a step past what CapLAN provided by incorporating sponsors and prizes while keeping the same spirit and love for gaming that was cultivated in at CapLAN. The crew incorporates the staff of CapLAN and some of the former staff of LANcouver.

We focus on the casual gamers as they are the core of the gaming world. Most people don’t have time to spend hours in front of one game playing over and over until they have polished their skills to a mirror shine. Instead we focus on the well-rounded gamer who can play more then one game. Prizes will not be assigned to a tournament; rather, points will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, as well as things like first kill and best kill to death ratio. Then the person with the most point, thus the most well-rounded player can take first pick of the prizes, and then so on down the line. This way everyone has a chance to get something and we encourages everyone to come to our LAN.

The event will be powered with professional grade Cisco and Extreme networks switches, and with the use of a fiber optic backbone, we will be able to provide all attendees with a lag-free gaming experience
